Happy New Year! The San Diego United Lions Club completed their annual Lunar New Year Charity Gala on Friday, February 8, 2019 with 300+ guests in attendance.
We were honored to have a number of city leaders in attendance that included the Representative of The Honorable Congressman Scott Peters, 52nd District; The Honorable Todd Gloria, Assemblymember, 78th District and former Acting Mayor of San Diego, and candidate for Mayor 2020; The Honorable Nathan Fletcher, San Diego County Board of Supervisors, 4th District; The Honorable Susan Stephan, Esq., San Diego District Attorney; The Honorable Mara Elliott, San Diego City Attorney; Representing The Honorable Monica Montgomery, District 4, Deputy Chief of Staff Max Ellorin; The Honorable Marti Emerald, Former Councilmember District 7 and 9, and Lion; The Honorable Bruce Abrams, Esq., Chair, International Affairs Board; and Mr. Kevin Beiser, San Diego Board of Education, District B. The San Diego United Lions Club was presented with two Proclamations proclaiming the Lunar New Year from both the offices of Congressman Scott Peters and Assemblymember Todd Gloria. We thank you for the honor and proclamations.
The San Diego United Lions Club charity event, in partnership with the Jasmine Seafood Restaurant, included a gourmet, eight course New Year’s meal and entertainment provided by the White Dragon Lions, Lion Doug Battey, The Harmonies, Leo Melanie Jimenez, and the San Diego Taiko group. All of the entertainers and performers donated their time and talent presenting the community with a fabulous “5-star” show to ring in the new year. Thank you all for your contributions to help make this night a huge success. We certainly couldn’t have done it without your oscar performances!
The San Diego United Lions Club 2019 Lunar New Year Charity Gala Proceeds will support California Wildfires and other Disaster Relief and Charity Efforts through Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF). The charity gala was a sold-out event, and every single table was filled to capacity. Additionally, there were over 40+ raffle prizes and silent auction items, and every item was sold by the end of the night. Overall, SDULC brought in over $10K in donations for this fundraising event. We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all the event sponsors, companies who donated silent auction and raffle prizes, table sponsors, and citizens of the community who came out to give so generously for this fundraising event. The members of the San Diego United Lions Club are humbled by all that you gave, and support that you provided, to help us, help others. ~ United We Serve ~
