Welcome back, Lions, from your Labor Day weekend. Here’s all the news and happenings for September.
Library Article – deadline Sept 15, 2018
Just a gentle reminder that your review and edits are due to me, re: Mira Mesa Public Library Article, by September 15th. Appreciate your input to make it a strong submission, and “no change” responses are appreciated so that I know I’ve accounted for everyone’s review/edit. I know the editors with most likely cut and modify as well as determine which pictures to print/enlarge.
Halloween Flyer and Invite – Oct 27, 2018, 1:00-3:00pm
Also, I made an error with Lion Debbie’s phone number and had to correct the Halloween Flyer for distribution. My apologies Lion Debbie-now corrected. New Halloween flyer attached. Please forward the flyer to friends, family, and work colleagues to begin making lane reservations for our coming event. I’ve heard from Lions Vince, Chris, Debbie, Allen, Liz, and Donna regarding working the Bowling event (includes bowling with the SDULC friends and family who attend). Anyone else? Negative replies requested.
San Diego Food Bank SDULC Service Project – Miramar Road, Nov 8, 6:00-8:00pm
I’ve heard back from Lions VInce, Chris, David, Donna, Bruce, Debbie, and Liz. Anyone else care to help out that night at the Food Bank for our monthly service project? Earlest replies appreciated because the dates are first come, first requested. They will not hold a date open for us if we are late in requesting the date. I need at least five (5) lions to work that night for 2 hours. Negative replies appreciate to ensure I’ve accounted for everyone.
September Meeting – Sept 16, 2018, Proposed Venue Change, Mimi’s Restaurant (Mira Mesa), 4:00pm
To help SDULC raise funds, Mimi’s has offered SDULC a donation of 20% from the total bill. Lion Donna has researched this info and can set up our meeting for Mimi’s Mira Mesa if the SDULC members would like to have our September meeting there…we would be required to eat something together (non-hosted) in order to get a return donation for our club. This proposed venue change will help us in two ways: (1) we will raise some money for our fundraising efforts and (2) fulfills our reporting requirement for September 2018 to District and the DG. The DG is looking at service, numbers, and reporting very closely – her first elected year. 🙂 Thoughts and or comments anyone? This possible meeting place/time is only 12 days away so please let me know if you think this is a good idea. Lion Donna, can you talk to Mimi’s about the side room and put a possible “Hold” on the room until we hear back from our members? (Lion Donna, I will let you know once I hear back from at least 50% of our group.) Lions, if we meet and eat there, please note that the “official” meeting will run longer.
***September reporting will include Mimi’s fundraising if we decide to do that and SDULC minutes
***October reporting will include attendance at LVOY Luncheon and Halloween Fundraiser, and SDULC minutes
***November reporting will include San Diego Food Bank Volunteer Service, and SDULC minutes
***December reporting will include Holiday gathering/Dinner, and SDULC minutes
Thank you everyone for your prompt responses to the above projects/events. I know everyone works so I appreciate all that you give to the SDULC and the community each and every day-it’s impressive!
